An Evening with Dad

After a hard 20 minutes of working in the yard a little chocolate milk will perk you up.

Cheese, oh wonderful cheese is what Dad would say, but if you ask Addie you get a big fat yuck!

But don't worry Dad, Addie will still help you make your omelet even if it has cheese as a main ingredient.

We were just barely able to get the yard mowed in time for trash pick up in the morning. Know that I say we, but mostly I mean Paul, with a little guidance from Addie.

After Addie shows Dad where all the Ellie dog "Yuckies" are she helps direct where to mow.
She inspects the grass and to make sure Dad didn't miss any blades of grass.

Her other job is to fill up Ellie Dog's water bucket. She is really good at that one! A+ for Addie and her yard work.

Just in case you were wondering, Mom did work in the yard as well. I am officially in charge of the weed eradication program. I have done such a great job killing the weeds that I can't get the grass to grow back in a few places. One of the many side effects of Roundup. I have since moved on to a better weed killer that won't leave me with a polka dot yard when I'm done. All I ask is that we don't have the ugliest yard on the street and so far so good, polka dots and all.

"No Potty Mommy"

Lately I have been trying to get Addie interested in the big girl potty. Its hasn't been going as planned. I have tried the little potty, and now we have moved on to the princess seat!
I'm not sure about the helmet, but Addie insisted that she have it on her head, and no we hadn't been riding her bike and didn't ride her bike afterwards! I guess she needed all the princesses she could get!
Tonight as I was trying yet again, I tried to figure out what would entice her to want to use the potty. She had already informed me that she was going to need more than candy to make it worth her while. I asked her if she would like to wear princess panties, and she enthusiastically said "uh huh". Then I asked if she liked wearing diapies, "No diap Mommy". At this point I was thinking sweet, I just might have figured her out! But NO, as we continued to talk and I explained that she had to actually go potty on the potty to be able to wear princess panties. She said "No potty princess Mommy, diap". In the words of a 2 year old, I was just told that I needed to bring more than princess panties if I ever want this child to pee in the potty!

Spring Cleaning

After a beautiful weekend and waking up to another sunny day, I ampted up my Monday chores. I have found that if I have a set day to clean the bathrooms and get the bulk of the household cleaning done, I stay on top of everything and the house says mostly clean. Last week the gorgeous weather resulted in a clean and organized garage, this week I tackled the blinds. Between loads of laundry I took the blinds out to the driveway and cleaned them. Addie surprisingly wasn't all that interested.

As I was cleaning blinds, doing laundry, painting a board, and all around feeling pretty productive, Addie was bitten by the bug of destruction!

I knew Addie had been mostly playing in the garage, but had grown bored and moved on to greener pastures. I just hadn't anticipated the pastures being so green.

Good thing I love that cute little/big girl. I must say to her credit, she did leave me be so that I could get the blinds cleaned, put back up, and most of my Monday chores completed. She was also kind enough to keep the mess confined to her room. If that is all it takes to get a productive chore day out of the way, I'll take it!

Sunny Saturday in Boise

Today was the perfect day to go downtown and checkout the Farmer's Market.

We were not exactly prepared for the massive amount of fun that we experienced. Mom kinda forgot about the Fountain of Funness. When we were downtown a week ago the fountain was still in winter mode so I didn't even think about it.
If I was the smart mom that I usually am, I would have remembered and brought a towel at least. I might have even remembered the sunscreen and a backup outfit. But no!
We all were able to basque in the wetness. Even as Addie shivered in her wet clothes she was not ready to leave.
After we were able to tear Addie away from the Fountain of Funness, luckily w/o shedding a single tear. It was time for lunch. However her clothes were not exactly ready. Being the classy parents that we are, we didn't let that keep us from eating. No shirt, no shoes, no service, they never mention pants!
Addie didn't mind that she was was 1/2 naked, she was still out ready to enjoy the day.
After lunch we headed to the park to feed the duck our leftover pancakes. Which by the way, geese looooove pancakes.
Amazingly enough Addie didn't try to chase them, so they even came right up to her.
While feeding the ducks, or mostly geese I should say, we noticed that there were paddle boats for rent. We couldn't resisit.
Addie sure does love her Daddy. Its a good thing he is so lovable. He did get us the swan paddle boat!
Addie was so amazed at all that the duck pond had to offer, mini waterfall, giant fish, and of coarse the baby geese!

You know that it has been a great day when this happens, even better not even a tear was shed all day! All in All it was a fantastic day for the Hannant Family.

Adventures with Mo Mo

Auntie Mo Mo has been at our house for the last 2 weeks. I'm not sure if she even knew what she was in for, but Addie took full advantage. The first week everything was Mo Mo, "No Mo Mo do it" but by the end of the second week I'm not sure what happened. Mo Mo became scum and Mom was the only one Addie had eyes for.
Now that it was time for Auntie Mo Mo to head home to Arkansas for the summer, we started having beautiful weather! OH well! This Afternoon before Mo had to hit the road we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon outside. Mo Mo tried to help Addie ride her bike, but she wasn't interested in pushing the pedals. She would rather push the bike and make silly poses for the camera.
As I would get busy around the house or trying to get ready for the day, I would come out and find those two playing. The aqua doodle was a favorite. I also prefer when Addie aqua doodles as opposed to her second favorite game of dumping all her toys out and then walking out of the room.
When Addie wasn't playing with Mo Mo she was playing in Auntie Mo Mo's room or with her stuff. One of her personal favorites was to go in and destroy the bed and make a mound of pillows while enjoying movie.
Thanks to Mo Mo the entire family is addicted to a silly game on our phones. We even have Addie playing Hippo Blast. At one point I found myself irritated because Addie had reset my game and I had lost all of my points, then I had to laugh at how ridiculous I sounded. However, that face looks very mischievous. I'm now wondering if it wasn't really on purpose. She is her Daddy's little clone and I did have a high score that would beat his. I wonder...
Yup, that about sums up Auntie Mo Mo's visit. A lot of hanging out in the wonderful world of Mom and Addie and a whole lot of "Mo Mo will you...". Being pregnant made the perfect excuse to have Mo Mo get up or bend down and mostly be an extra set of arms. It was great for me, and when Addie wasn't grumpy she liked having Mo Mo around.
Peek a Boo! Surprise Auntie Mo Mo, if I'm in here where is all your stuff? He He the joys of a munchkin.

Oops!

Like Addie is pointing out, sometimes we all make an Oops! For me they seem to happen more frequently when I'm pregnant. First off, I'm not sure what happens to my driving skills, but they become severely impaired. While pregnant with Addie I had an oops while parallel parking. I drove a teeny tiny bug and have no idea what happened, because I was a good little tricky parker. Since then I'm afraid to even try parallel parking, so my skills have rustified. But today I wasn't even tricky parking and thank goodness another car wasn't involved. I was downtown and on the hunt for a parking space, got a little distracted by the close proximity of the open spot. I failed to notice that I was facing the wrong way on a one way until a swarm of vehicles started towards me! Thank goodness I was only the wrong direction in a parallel space so once the traffic cleared I was able to flip around and forget about whole thing! Ahhh I guess I was just having one of those days.

Happy Maja Day

I like this holiday already, flowers, glittery cards, a beautiful wallet, and YUMMY food! My plate was so full that I didn't even have room for the delicious watermelon, and the dessert was so tempting that we couldn't even wait until after dinner. Mo Mo and I decided that since it was Maja Day we could eat as much dessert as often as we wanted! So we started directly after lunch! It was sooo good, we dug in before we even thought about documenting how beautifully delectable it was.

Not only was today Mother's Day it was warm and sunny! Addie and Mo Mo played on the tramp.

Then when Mo Mo was worn out Mom took a turn and it wasn't long before Mom was done. Then it was Dad turn to wear out the munchie!
But I think that Addie beat him up instead! It is amazing how one little girl can wear out a group of adults and still have the energy to keep going!
Sweet Addie was excited to show off her art work. Dad did a good job of surprising Mom! He is so sneaky sneak. It's amazing what you can get done while Mom is in Girls Club!
But before everyone could start the festivities of the afternoon, they had to take a power nap! Notice the they in that statement. Someone had to keep everything in order, why do you think they dedicated a holiday to us. Moms are just that wonderful! Next month we can talk about Dads but for now it is all about how wonderful and essential Moms are.

Sunny Saturday Afternoon

After several crummy days we started to have sunnier warmer afternoons, and oh how my soul needed a little Vitamin D.
Good thing Auntie Mo Mo is here visiting, these days Mom is struggling to keep up with our little Energizer bunny. If one kid isn't beating me up on the outside the other is beating me from the inside.
Addie has really been enjoying her Mo Mo. She has been taking full advantage of the fact that she has someone else to play with. As Mom is getting slower, crankier and less enthused about jumping, wrestling and playing, Addie is REALLY enjoying her Auntie Mo Mo.
Auntie Mo Mo and Addie had lots of fun chasing each other all over the playground. It worked just like Mom hoped it would, it totally wore Addie out and made bedtime a cinch. But making it to bedtime was entirely another story! Don't be fooled, that is not a sleepy Addie it is a grumpy Addie who was not happy about leaving the park! However as soon as we made it back to our backyard she was more than excited to jump on the trampoline! She is only a little dramatic, just a little!

Hanging out on Mom's Birthday!

Yikes! Scary monster fingers! Last Friday was my Birthday, and since Paul had been traveling and Addie and I had just driven back from a quick trip to Utah we kept it low key. Addie and I were the first ones home and we were really excited to find these gummy life savers on our front porch with a nice birthday card. But mostly we were happy just being out of the car!
It was really funny to watch Addie come chase us with her "monster Fingers". She would run around until they started to fall off, then gobble them up like she had just snuck them out of the pantry. All in her mouth at once, its amazing that she didn't choke.
Auntie Mo Mo even surprised us. We had met my Mom, Lewy and Mo Mo in Draper to go to Samantha Strong's wedding. We made a mad dash trip to Utah, got in Wed. night, weddinged on Thurs. afternoon, reception to follow, then Headed home Friday morning. To say the least Addie felt like she needed more time with her Auntie Mo Mo. So instead of hanging out with her friends for a couple more days in Utah, Auntie Mo Mo headed to Boise! And Addie hasn't left her alone since she got here. She even calls me Mo Mo!

Rain, Snow, even Hail can't Keep me Inside

Wow this snow looks kinda funny! It isn't even really cold outside! I like this pile of snow and it shall be forever my snow!
YEAHHHH! I love jumping on the tramp when it is all slippery with "NO" (that would be Addie Lingo for snow).
If we have to endure a hail storm at the end of April at least we get a beautiful rainbow when its over.
