A Typical Week at the Hannant House

Monday is our chore day. There is always a lot to do. While I am busy getting the house in order Addie likes to make herself comfy and watch a show or two.
With all our chores completed we have the rest of the week to play, work on unfinished projects, oh and drive Mom nuts! One should always remember to wear her rain boots while playing in her "swim soup".
Addie has also taken up catalog shopping, I honestly don't know who she gets it from...
When Mom says No, she goes to cozy up next to Dad. She thinks she is so smart.
While part of our family is working on filling out her figure the other part is trying to work off their sympathy symptoms. With a little help from his trainer Dad should be slim & trim in no time!
The laundry basket is always entertaining! Wether used as a bed or a boat this kid can be entertained forever with a few friends and a good ol' laundry basket.
Have I ever mentioned that we only like to eat the healthiest of foods here at the Hannant House. We always use our manners and never make a mess at the dinner table.
OK maybe we eat Raman noodles and get the occasional slushee from the Mav. What can I say we like what we like and if our kid is happy Mom is happy, well happier.

A few of our Favorite Things

Sun, we love you! We may not look so tan, but we have gone through a lot of sunscreen! This past Thursday we had a fun family evening at Roaring Springs water park! We swam till our lip were blue and one yon bert was to pooped to poop.
We just want to to finish this summer off with a splash! As our baby countdown is nearing the end we want to make the most of whats left of our summer.
Watermelon, Yummmmm! Mom's little helper knows how to enjoy a good watermelon. Addie has finally learned that since she doesn't want to take her clothes off, that if she puts her apron on, she can eat all the watermelon she wants. Just a little FYI watermelon stains!

She just thinks that she can do everything! Good thing Mom is there to save the watermelon! I love my little helper, even when she makes a mess!

5 Whole Years

Wow 5 years. 5 year ago if you would have asked me if I thought I would be in Idaho with kid #2 on the way, I'm sure I would have laughed at the thought. I can't say that a mortgage, 3 states and almost 2 kidlets has been easy, but I can say that I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone other than Paul. Life has taken us for an amazing ride. We have grown up exponentially and continue to grow and learn how to be real life responsible grown ups. For the most part we are still the silly couple completely in love and enjoying the blessings that our family brings us.
Looking back over our past anniversaries we realized that it is a good thing we chose to really celebrate our anniversary back in April while we were in Mexico. Out of the 5 that we have had Paul has been out of town, I've been uncomfortably pregnant (now twice), broke as a joke and I think we went out one year, maybe. So, we decided to break the tradition of blowing off our anniversary and we went out!
Oh how we love the Melting Pot! Not that we have been since being recruited to move to Oregon while I was pregnant with Addie. Every time we see one, we think ohhh we need to go go there again.
We finally made it back and enjoyed every last bite, especially the dessert fondu, Yummmmm.
With full bellies and having had enjoyed an evening out we headed home to see how the sitter survived an evening with Addie. We are truly blessed to have each other and are looking forward to our future.

Ahhhh Daddy

This past week Dad had to be in Denver for some meeting. Lets just say by the end of it, us girls were ready for a little testosterone. Last night I tried to put Addie to bed before Paul made it home. Yeah that wasn't happening! This little munchkin knew that her Dad was coming home that day and wasn't going to miss it!
When he finally made it in, and it being well past her bed time, she was more than excited to snuggle up with Dad and watch a show for a little while.

It was the next morning that you couldn't keep the kid off of him! She was so happy to have her human jungle gym home that she wanted little to do with Mom.

Juice Party!

Our happy hostess, ready to drown you in juice! From the Mom perspective the perfect tea party is in the swimming pool! All the fun without the mess. We even created a floating table out of our fish ring, we are just that smart here at the Hannant house!
Don't worry, I quickly taught Addie that we only pretend to drink the water. She had just as much fun watering the grass as she did preparing the "juice".
Mom had to lean in for the picture, Addie couldn't be bothered she was preparing juice.

I am always amazed at things that Addie will come up with. Our juice party in pool was filled with the cute chitter chatter of an almost 3 year old. One can only imagine some of the things she was talking about. None the less we both had a wonderful afternoon filled with cheers & giggles!

Baby Watch Out

The other day while I was working on my chores, this is where I found Addie!

Seriously, she was having a ball playing in the crib. Why couldn't she like the crib when I needed her to. As a baby she hated, I mean HATED being caged in the crib.

It is actually really cute, when I leave Addie to play in her room I often find her just hanging out in the crib. She throws her toys in, moves her pink moo moo over and climbs right in. Oh how she is in for the shock of a lifetime when this new baby is born!

Days of Summer

Swimming, Sunscreen, Sno Cones, Splashing, and Sonic all equal a successful summer!
P.S. That stinkin' pool has been a thorn in my side, one hole after another, but the joy it brings Addie makes it all worth it!

While Dad slaves away in an air conditioned office his girls are all kinds of busy. I like to think of it as cost effective entertainment. The more we are out playing, the less the air conditioner has to work on cooling the house.

Settlers Park is a fabulous park that is only a couple of miles from our home. It is more like a super park, it has everything a kid could ask for and more.

It wouldn't be the perfect park with out a sno shack!

Two tired girls. We splashed, we slurped and we wore ourselves out!

One can not forget about the classic sprinkler under the trampoline! We have definitely passed on that summer time activity on to the next generation.

Addie loves the sprinkler as long as the water doesn't get in her eyes! She wasn't about to let a little water stop her. I mean who really need to see where you are jumping, especially when the tramp is completely enclosed.

Now this is one happy kiddo! Roaring Springs water park knows how to take the heat right out of a hot summer afternoon.

I don't know where this little diva learned how to bask in the sun, but she sure has mastered it and the young age of not even 3!

Our day wouldn't be complete without a sno cone and one worn out little girl!
There you have it, a week in the life of Mom and Addie! We really appreciate all that Dad does for us so that we can enjoy these hot summer days! We look forward to the weekends so that we can share all of fun with Dad!

Supercharged Nesting

Who knew I could get so much accomplished in 2 days. Tell a girl that she is out of money until Friday and she can come up with all sorts of projects to stay busy. With my gas tank on E and my bank account on reserves I was left with a whole lot of finishing what I had already started. Once the laundry was done, the bags put away, and the house cleaned I realized that it was HOT outside and that I needed to find something to keep me busy while basking in the cool AC. Wednesday I stayed pretty busy with chores and cleaning this beautiful chandelier that Grandma gave us. I completely understand why people complain about cleaning those suckers! It was worth all that tedious work because now my entry sparkles with light! (The picture doesn't even do it justice)
I even tried to be lazy today (thursday) I slept in, watched a show in bed and then got up. All the while Addie was sound asleep, it is true that child slept until after 10 today! I attacked the clover in my yard, fixed the puncture wounds in our pool, started my to-do list of things to get done before this baby is born, and made a shopping list for tomorrow! Then it was like I had been drugged with energy! I don't know how else to explain it. I made Addie's birthday tutu, I can't believe that she will be 3 next month. Wow a lot has happened in those short 3 years.
The tutu was probably the easiest part of my day. For some reason I felt like I needed to put the crib up and put together the girls room. I must say from a distance the crib looks great, but man that child of mine knows how to put some wear and tear on her furniture! That thing was so dirty, and not to mention chewed up, luckily I had Pledge on hand.
In making room for baby, all of Addie's beloved toys had to relocate. Sadly they moved into the living room. Oh well I guess we have to put them somewhere, and I would rather her play in the living room than out in the garage.
We all are having to make adjustments in preparation for new baby. The mini refrigerator temporarily was forced to take up residence in the master bathroom! My living room had way more toys than I had ever hoped for, and I couldn't make it fit in the living room without being in the way. Thus, it now holds all the extra towels! Someday soon enough it will be filled with children and toys but until then bath towels.

More Monday's need to be like This!

One thing that is a definite truth about our family is that we are not morning people. Just take a look a Addie, by the look on her face you would think that it was 6 am not after 9. To say the least it took a little while for Addie to warm up to the idea of being a the parade at 9 o'clock in the morning. Luckily we weren't the ones that had to get up an scout out a good spot! Thank goodness, we were barely making it there in time to see it start let alone getting there early!
Okay, family pretend that we showered, smell like roses and love each other early in the morning!
Once the parade was more than half way over Addie decided to perk up and enjoy all the floats and paradeness. I am not for certain but I am beginning to think that Bert has become a half way through kind of a gal. She seemed to be grumpy for half of most of our weekend activities!
Take this kid to the park and wash all that grumpiness off! While Mark and Emilee decided to take a hike in the canyon we thought we would be a little less physical and go to the park again.
This time we were prepared put Addie in her swimsuit and let her loose!
After a little splashing we graduated to jumping! Good thing there were not any lifeguards or park patrol to keep us in line.

As if the park wasn't enough to wear a kid out. She managed to find the energy to get Grandma on the tramp for a little jump jump action.

Now look at that face, is that kid trouble or what. She should be a zombie but no, she just keeps on goin'.
Once it was dark Addie decided that it was time for another fireworks show. When one person says what a minute, just take the firework to someone else! Maybe Aunt Emilee will get the show started?
The fireworks were prepped, the group gathered and the hose running (just in case). We were ready for the show. Uncle Mark, Uncle Scott's apprentice, since Scott decided to go to Lake Powell this year, ran our firework show! Maybe next year Mark will be ready for his very own blow torch.
A true lady never goes anywhere with out her purse. You just never know when you might need it.
It is a good thing that pictures don't capture smells. Maybe that is why Addie wouldn't look up?
You know it has been a good 4th of July when you just can't seem to look at another fire cracker!
Addie sure knows comfort! When you are too tired to pull the blanket out of the basket, it has been a good day!
